How To Complete The Ritual To Enter Hell
The House of Hope in Baldur's Gate 3 is the final destination for those souls who sought to make a deal with the devil. An eternity of servitude traded for mortal desire - what hope is left for those who have nothing left to give? Moreover, what hope is there for those who dare break into the devil's home?

If you're brave enough to venture into the House of Hope, you'll have hands full juggling disguises, one-of-a-kind legendary treasures, and slews of challenging and exciting enemy encounters. But the first and foremost issue at hand: how do one even get to hell itself?
How To Find The Devil's Fee And Expose Helsik
The only way to enter the House of Hope is by extorting a deal from the owner of Devil's Fee, a storefront located in the northern area of the Lower City. It is the building with the two demon motifs on the gated pillars outside.
You can freely enter the home and trade with Helsik at any point; however, getting Helsik to admit her dealings is a crucial first step to unlocking the House of Hope and requires a little finesse.
If you have the following materials, you can completely disregard speaking with Helsik and try doing the ritual yourself - at risk of a loaded fireball trap upstairs:
- Skull.
- Incense.
- Diamond.
- Infernal Marble (only found in Helsik's above chest).
- Coin of Mammon (only found in the drawer next to Helsik's bed).
To force Helsik's confession, you need to find one of two possible blackmail materials:
- Helsik's Diary - Found upstairs past the fireball trap on the table beside the ritual circle.
- Report on the Activities of Enver Gortash - Found on the table in the Infiltration Training Room at the House of Grief.
Show Helsik one of these two and inquire about them. She will ask for coin. Any offer above 100 gold will suffice (though she'll call you cheap if you only offer her 100), or you can attempt to Persuade her to tell you for free.
Once she tells you of her dealings, you'll need to pay her again to tell you about the portal. Offer her another 100 gold or greater.
After paying her twice, she'll ask you to pay for the ritual materials and travel cost. The total cost is 2,000GP.
However, you can Intimidate her to halve the price or Persuade her to allow you to trade a stolen item from the vault (the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength) to waive the price entirely and travel for free. Both have a DC of 20.
Alternatively, you can kill and loot Helsik for the ritual journal anyway, though she is not an easy fight.
If you fail to retrieve or deny Helsik the Gauntlets after promising her, she will demand to be paid the lump sum or will attack you.
How To Complete The Ritual To Enter Hell
After receiving the ritual items and guidebook from Helsik, head upstairs. The fireball trap will be disarmed if you bargained with Helsik successfully.
In the room with the large circle of blood, open your inventory and then the pouch of items.
Place them all according to the instructions in your book or those found in the table below.
Item | Directions |
---|---|
Skull | West point of the circle, facing the desk. |
Diamond | Northeast side of the circle, facing the bookshelves. |
Incense | North side of the circle, facing the metal door to the outside. |
Coin of Mammon | Northwest side of the circle, facing the ornate chest left of the bookshelves. |
Infernal Marble | Center of the circle. |
After placing these items, a portal to the House of Hope will open. You can enter it by interacting with the portal's center.
Be warned that after entering this portal, you will be in a dungeon area where you cannot long rest. It is recommended to bring your best, fully-rested party as you undertake one of the most difficult dungeon challenges in Baldur's Gate 3.
Tara the Tressym, if you have encountered her during the Missing Letters sidequest in Rivington, will be on the roof of this building. She offers a Hat of the Sharp Caster (which allows Natural 1's and 2's to be rerolled) for trade.
