Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities : LIU is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a full-time tenure track Assista nt Professor position in the Depar tment of Counseling and Development/College of Education, Information and Technology. Basic re sponsibilities include teaching and advising graduate students in the CACREP accredited master’s degree programs in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling at the LIU Post and LIU Brentwood campuses. Additionally, a commitment to scholarly research , grant writing, and curriculum management and improvement is expected.
Principal Responsibilities
Teaching in the clinical mental health counseling and school counseling programs at the LIU Post and LIU Brentwood campuses.
D evelop ing and maintain ing an active research agenda including grant writing.
Ongoing m entoring and advising of graduate counseling student trainees .
S upervis ion of graduate student trainee fieldwork experiences in the counseling practicum and counseling internship courses.
P articipat ion in curriculum improvement and departmental and university committee activity.
C ollaborat ion with other faculty to ensure continued success of our graduate counseling programs.
Candidates must have active membership and involvement in professional counseling organizations.
Education RequirementsCandidates should meet the following qualifications:
Doctorate in counselor education from a CACR EP accredited program . ABD accep table if graduating by May , 20 2 4 .
A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other ed ucational environments with publication and grant writing experience preferred .
Some experience in mental health counseling and/or school counseling.
Knowledge of the 20 24 CACREP standards and Brightspace/D2L and Tevera or equivalent online instructional software preferred .
Publication in professional journals and grant writing experience is welcomed.
